Band scores & marking schemes (important tables)

IELTS is a multi-level exam: each skill is scored from 1 to 9 (half bands like 6.5 are possible). Universities often require overall 6.0–7.0 and may require minimums per section.

Writing & Speaking criteria

Writing is typically assessed on: Task Achievement, Coherence & Cohesion, Lexical Resource, Grammatical Range & Accuracy.
